Cellular Jail

The Cellular Jail also known as Kala Pani (Black Water) was a colonial prison. This prison was used by the Britishers to exile the political prisoners. Indian revolutionarys like Battukeshwar Dutt & Veer Savarkar were imprisoned in this jail during India’s Independence and hence now it serves as the National Memorial Monument.

 

Havelock Island

Havelock Island is a must-visit place for all HoneymoonersIt is one of the biggest islands. It is situated to the east of Great Andaman. As a tribute to our freedom fighter Mr. Subhas Chandra Bose, since December 2018 it was named Swaraj Island.

 

Radha Nagar Beach

Radhanagar beach is one of the cleanest beaches in Andaman & beautiful too. It is situated on the western coast of Havelock Island. It was voted the best beach in Asia by Time Magazine in 2004 and is now considered one of the top 100 beaches in the world.

 

Ross Island

Ross Island is an island formed by 4 volcanoes in the Ross Sea near the continent of Antarctica off the coast of Victoria Land in Mc Murdo Sound. It lies within the boundaries of Ross Dependency.

 

Viper Island

Viper Island belongs to the South Andaman district of the Andaman And Nicobar Island. This small island was once the jail where the British used to imprison political prisoners. The Cellular Jail was constructed in 1906 after which this jail was abandoned.

 

Best Time to Visit Andaman Nicobar

Between October and March is the best time to visit this island as there is minimum fluctuation in the temperature and the weather is quite pleasant & bright. It is highly recommended to avoid this tour in monsoon because of the strong winds, high tides & incessant rains.

DO’S & DONT’S in Andaman

It is highly recommended to wear a life jacket before you board the Boat. Please ensure to check the passenger capacity of the boat, while boarding the Boat. Ensure that Tourists or crew on board are within the prescribed capacity.

The Boat operator and another tour guide should be in sound condition and knowledgeable, if found under the influence of Liquor immediately disembark and report it to the concerned Authority.

DO’s

  • Before travelling to this beautiful place, please find out about the safe swimming or diving area, you will find this information from the Tourist Information Center, Local Tour Companies and Forest Department Staff. Do not swim in Protected Areas as areas which are restricted may have dangerous animals.
  • It is your responsibility to look and follow the safety sign boards. It helps you to identify potential dangers.
  • Always ask a lifeguard on duty for some advice on swimming conditions like local currents, tides, proper visibility, also the presence of dangerous marine creatures etc, if any. Swimming conditions might change quickly, so it is your responsibility to seek prior advice from a lifeguard before entering the water in an unpatrolled area.
  • It is advisable to take your friend to swim along with you so that you can look out for each other’s safety and get help if needed. Children & Infants should always be supervised and taken care of by an adult.  Do not swim in the dark.
  • Alwaysays raise your hand for help if you have trouble in the water. Always stay calm and wave your arm for help.

 

DON'T'S

  • Avoid dangling your arms and legs in the water during boat rides.
  • Never swim when you are drunk or influenced by drugs.
  • Avoid wearing Bright coloured clothes and Shiny Jewellery as they resemble the fins of small fishes and may attract predatory fishes. Avoid wearing such accessories or clothing while swimming.
  • Do not swim, when you have an open wound. Several predatory fish are attracted to blood odour.
  • Do not dive or swim amongst schools of fish. This will surely attract predatory fishes such as sharks.
  • Never swim or dive during the night or late evening.
